Neilson Creek food pantry will be open soon for members in need of canned food and dry goods.

We are always recognizing that families or single people may be in need of assistance.  We are fortunate to offer subsidized housing to our members and now we are going to have a food pantry to assist anyone (anonymously) in need.

Archie is organizing two cabinets and they will be placed in the laundry room.  We are hoping that members donate items and will fill the cabinets.

Dry and canned food items will be accepted.

Please look at the suggested list below, when thinking about donations:

  • Peanut butter
  • Canned soup
  • Canned fruit
  • Canned vegetables
  • Canned stew/chili
  • Canned fish/meat
  • Canned beans
  • Pasta & pasta sauce
  • Rice
  • Crackers
  • Cereal

We ask that if you able, please bring and leave your donations at the office.  There is a table in the hallway.  We will place the items in the cupboard.  Please make sure that no food has expired if you are donating.

No fresh food donations please as we are not set up to accept them.

For those members needing to use the food pantry – this is truly for you to use anonymously.  Come any time up till 9:30 at night.  Go the office laundry room and take what you need from the cupboards. No one needs to know who you are or what food you need.  Generally, there is no one in the office from 5:00 p.m. through 9:30, except for Wednesday.

Members, please be generous if you are able.  Thank you.

** For the second time, a member has had their front door unlocked and a stranger walked in late at night.  Walked around – checked out the main floor.

This is a good reminder to keep your front door locked.  Also a reminder to try and keep your exterior lights on.

Congratulations to the following members (in no order) for being awarded Century of Co-operation from the Co-op Housing Federation of Toronto.

Please note that other members have previously received their recognition – age and years they have lived in the Co-op equal 100 years.

Inspection Committee will be starting 235 and 215 on November 28th.  Your co-operation is very much appreciated.

Committee members will be wearing a mask when coming to your unit.

** At the recommendation of a member, the Co-op now has a defibrillator located in the front hall of the office.

This is a good time to check your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.  If they are older than 10 years, let us know and we will replace them.

Lots of exciting information coming from the Social Committee!
